Revival in the Valley of Dry Bones
When life's valleys leave us spiritually parched, God's breath penetrates the deepest dryness. His life-giving Spirit transforms what human efforts cannot touch.

Today's Scripture
Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live. (Ezekiel 37:5)
Reflection
Ezekiel's vision of dry bones reveals God's pattern: where human hope expires, divine life begins. The valley symbolizes any circumstance that leaves us feeling spiritually inert—relationships frozen, ministries stalled, or personal faith dulled. The sheer dryness emphasizes the severity of the condition, yet God's command to 'prophesy' to the bones reminds us revival always begins with obedience. We may not comprehend how God will act, but our part is to trust His word in the wasteland.
The bones did not revive through their own effort but by receiving God's breath. Similarly, spiritual restoration flows not from self-improvement but from surrendering to divine intervention. This passage dismantles our pride in self-sufficiency. When we feel spiritually lifeless, the solution isn't to 'try harder' but to invite God's wind—the Holy Spirit—to stir new life in our stagnant hearts. His power reclaims what death seems to have claimed.
Notice God didn't choose fertile ground for this miracle. Revival often erupts in places deemed too broken for redemption. Your dry season, that strained relationship, this dying church plant—these are all valleys where God's breath can create an Eden. The promise in Ezekiel 37:5 transcends physical resurrection; it points to spiritual awakening. Where you see only dust, God sees potential for divine breath to spark eternal life.
This vision challenges us to recognize God's timing. The bones didn't revive immediately—they required the word of the Lord and time. Spiritual renewal may take seasons, but God's promise is irrevocable. We are called to hold fast to His word in the valley, trusting that His breath will come when least expected. In the waiting, we become channels through whom God's life-giving wind awakens others trapped in spiritual desolation.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, stir within us the breath of life where we feel spiritually dormant. Awaken hope in our weary hearts and empower us to proclaim Your power in the valleys of brokenness. Let our obedience become the soil where Your revival takes root. May we trust Your timing as we wait for Your wind to transform what seems lifeless.
